PruningContinued trimming basil every few days as it regrew into the lights.
The basil keeps on growing! I've been trimming it down every few days, only to come back to going into the lights. It's really delightful chopped up in a salad, as well as adding to cooked dishes!!

Harvested a little of the parsley, which had grown up into the lights. It's very curly and pretty, like I'd hoped it would be!

Had a jungle on my hands here!!Trimmed them up, and now trying to decide what to do with all the basil I got off! Already threw some into the food I've got cooking for the week, but there's still lots left. Will probably freeze the rest.

It was AWESOME in both directions!! We road-tripped all the way from Lubbock, TX to Crystal River, FL and back again - saw the sights, went to Disney World (a first and mutually agreed last for all of us, it was Very Cool but also not something we'd ever care to do again), went fishing, and overall had an AMAZING time! We try to make a big trip every other year (this was actually supposed to happen last year, but COVID). We've already got vague Ideas about the next trip, somewhere up north where we can fish for pike! I can't wait to eat more of the fish we brought back

Very cool! We've got plenty of fishing up this way...but I think you would want to do a northward trip a tad earlier in the year!

Oh yes!! We went to Alaska several years ago to fish for salmon and halibut - it was mid-June when we went, and still we shivered the whole time in our heavy wool coats!! Also found out the ocean is Not Kind to anyone in my family. We were river-fishing in Florida, which was new for us (we'd only done lakes and the one ocean trip before), and it didn't make us sick at all the same way lakes never make us sick. But in Alaska even with the motion-sickness patches we were all super queasy!! I spent most of it trying not to retch over the side of the boat. The patch made my Dad sleep walk so he quit using it and was even sicker than me on the boat. Mom was mostly okay on the boat but the patch made her queasy on land. It was a super cool trip, but I think we're going to avoid the coasts from now on!! I bet you have beautiful rivers and lakes in the PNW though, it'd be amazing to drive through and fish there some day.

We do!! Rivers, waterfalls, lakes...and the ocean is near by too. Lots of fishing options! Washington, Idaho, Oregon...all just gorgeous!

PruningCut the basil down so it stayed near the height of the slower parsley.
Trimmed the basil down to keep it around the same height as the parsley. I'm looking forward to having some fresh basil in a salad, it smelled so good!!

What kinds of basil & parsley did you plant? I've got Genovese and Curly in my Bounty. Thinking I'll try a different basil in my next herb garden.

I did Genovese basil, because that and Thai basil were the only Basil seeds I had on-hand - I love to experiment with Basil though, and am already thinking about buying seeds for next year's outdoor garden! Basil does amazing here, and always looks nice in a garden. I very much disliked the Thai Basil though, so if anyone wants some seeds, let me know! I still have a whole packet. They're Siam Queen from Baker's Creek, very pretty and very liquorice-tasting.The Parsley is Moss Curled Parsley, also from Baker's Creek. This is my first time growing it, but it's very curly and fancy-looking in the photo! I've tried several different types of parsley and they all taste the same to me, so I decided to go for something pretty when I bought parsley seeds a while back

Sounds great! I'm with you on the Thai basil too. Not my favorite. I love the Curly Parsley, homegrown anyway. I did start up some gardens today, so need to write something up on that.

I think curly parsley makes a great ornamental plant. It is beautiful!
