Update #16

Give this plant a little water and under those big Farm lights the blooms seem to explode. I know I said this one is done but every time I glance over and see all of the flowers I feel like it deserves a little more attention.

It is beautiful, full and so colorful!

How's this one going in the pot. Is it still blooming?

N
nick

I finally decided to let this one go after realizing it would bloom in perpetuity if I kept watering it.

I know this project is technically terminated, but this plant is still going in a pot. I left it sitting in an empty Farm unit while we were away on vacation and it loved the lights.

It is doing well in the pot.

I should’ve transplanted mine at that stage. It looks great.

Update #14

Actions taken

TransplantTransplanted the mature flowering plant from the Sprout into a soil pot.

N By nick

Today I transplanted this one into a pot. Hopefully this will avoid any legal complications in plant court despite my prior public conspiracy on this very board. Anyway. Here’s the plant in its new home. Hopefully it’ll remain happy. That concludes this project which was a really nice introduction to the Sprout. 🙂 Thanks to all who recommended it!

Very pretty. Totally satisfying and rewarding project, I am sure.

Looks very happy and at home!

M
MaryL

Very pretty. I also love the color of the pot, it complements the pink flowers.

Update #13

This plant seems to be loving life on my desk. Having said that, I’m quite tempted to murder it soon so that I can replace it with a Sweet Heat plant to share with my pepper-loving coworkers. I suppose posting that publicly means that it’ll now be easy for the prosecutors to convince the jury that it was premeditated. Obviously I’m not cut out for a life of crime.

Very decorative! Colors POP!

S
Shawn

The flowers are so full and quite vibrant in color. As far as the "crime" you may commit maybe someone in the office would like to transplant it? That would save you from any prosecution you may (or may not) have in the future.

U
Unknown

Another way to save the project is to take the basket and plant it deeply (sponge and basket) deeply in a large pot with potting mix and watch it spread and take off! It would mean sacrificing a basket, though.

M
MaryL

That looks so beautiful!

Another weekend away from the office and I came back to this view today.

It’s filling out beautifully. Any comments from your coworkers?

N
nick

Oh yes. Many questions about the Sprout in general and lots of comments on the pretty flowers. One of my team members swears she’s going to transfer it to a pot and take it home.

S
Shawn

At least you have a good description of the future plant thief

M
MaryL

Funny!Next time you can plant all 3 pods and then pot them and raffle them off. The proceeds can go to the office donut fund. (Or Nick’s personal pizza fund).

N
nick

I’d rather put it toward my new AeroGarden fund! 😁

M
MaryL

Oh snap! Even better!!!

This plant has had a small growth spurt over the last 48 hours. It seems that once the leaves were above the label it really has found a growing groove.

Update #5

N By nick

And here we are today. The brown edges on a few of the leaves are 100% my fault. I touched them a bit trying to get the label out of their way and I think I made some small tears/bruises on those leaves. It’s growing fine though. I may remove those leaves as it gets bigger.

They will be fine! Looking good and well on their way.

M
MaryL

I’m impressed you got them out! Seems like everything else we all grow comes up as a single tiny seedling that easily clears the sides of the label opening. But these come out like a big powder puff in comparison.

Update #4

EquipmentRemoved the dome and left the pod label in place.

After another weekend away from the office this is what I returned to this morning. I’m leaving the dome off. Still not removing the label. I’m curious to see what happens with it on. 🤔

Update #3

Today there appears to be a lot of green hiding under the label of the seed pod. Should I try to get the sponge to sit higher, let it push through or ?

I wound up just taking the labels off lol

U

me too

M
MaryL

I first lifted it off of one side of the basket to give the emerging greenery room, then just yesterday pulled the whole thing off because the green had filled out most of the top of the basket. Then I reused the label on another garden.

S
Shawn

Have the flowers crested the label? Or have you removed it yet?

N
nick

There’s a hint of green above the label at the moment. I’ve decided to leave it on and see what happens. 😬

M
MaryL

Probably a good idea.

After four days of working from home and weekend hunkering down for the hurricane, I made it back to the office this morning. Didn’t take long before I spotted a little glimpse of green peeking out at me. I’ll take it. 🙂

Update #1

Actions taken

EquipmentCleaned and dried the second-hand Sprout before use.
PlantingStarted the Love Blooms flower kit as an office garden.

N By nick

My eBay Sprout arrived at the end of last week. It was a little dirty and has lots of light surface scratching, but I’m fine with that. After getting it cleaned up and dried out I had to wait a few more days for my Love Blooms kit to arrived. That happened yesterday and so today I started my first office garden. Here’s hoping I’ll soon have a more cheerful workspace!

Happy yo hear it cleaned up well. Now to wait for the Love to Bloom.

N
nick

I needed to make a quick stop at the office this morning and checked in with the Sprout. It's four days in and no love is in the air as of yet. Still waiting for a sign of life.
