Update #13

S By Shawn

I have NO idea what to call these as there was a mixture. However this plant as you can see are orange. We tasted them and they are sweet and delish. They do have a lot of seeds and are on the smaller pop them in your mouth size. They would be great fried, fresh or pickled.

Update #12

Actions taken

FinishedReported ending a second declining plant after an earlier plant had already been removed.

S By Shawn

Out of the three plants, one was ended a couple weeks ago. The the two were droopy. Did the R&R and the two left were doing better. Last night the one plant went downhill and I ended that. However so far this one plant is doing good .... as I said so far. I am waiting on a new seed order to arrive. Once it does I may or may not continue this one.

Update #11

Actions taken

SolutionReplaced the reservoir solution after the plants began declining.
EquipmentCleaned the basins and rinsed the pepper roots.
NutrientsRefilled and fed the peppers using nutrients without Mooch.
HarvestPicked four peppers from the failing plant and taste-tested them.

S By Shawn

I was not liking how the plants are looking after the first one took a nose dive. I decided to do an R&R. The water was way too yellow. Have no clue why but I cleaned the basins and rinses the roots and put everything back.Fed them only nutes. Keeping fingers crossed they do well. Here are the four I picked. They could have ripened a bit more.As far as a review... They were just ok. They were grassy tasting. I think these would do best in a pickling situation. I will taste again if more ripened now that I did the R&R

The yellow water is a mystery to me. Hope someone else can explain it! I hate it when a pepper is just okay. That happened with my last pepper grow

S
Shawn

I do not think any of my peppers are going to make it. Why? Well maybe too much nutes or mooch. With a combination of temp fluctuations. We have had the door open and while there is no direct breeze the temps have been hot or cold in my house (for several reasons)... I will know more tomorrow. The worst thing is that I need to start fresh with all new peppers. That is not a bad thing because I love starting new.

Update #10

There is a MESS on the deck I have not cleaned yet. The vacuum is coming out today. I may also do some interior leave trimming so they get some more air flow. You can see them hidden but also how they grow upwards.

20ml nutes and mooch

S
Shawn

One of the three plants (the one will red peppers) has wilting leaves. THe others in the same bowl are fine. Any idea what is wrong? (mike) The water is fine, nutes were the same as was mooch. Water change is due next feeding so it is not over saturated.

C
campingcorgis

Oh dear! Keeping fingers & paws crossed for your pepper plant!

S
Shawn

I had 4 red peppers on the dying plant. So I removed those and cut all the stems with no peppers and all the leaves off hoping to get those last peppers ripened. The other two plants are doing well. These are Petite for sure. Like the picture you can hold several in your hands I will get a picture

They all look so healthy! Yes, the top one is definitely a different variety. Not only is the fruit growing down, but the leaves are different. It will be interesting to see the differences in color and taste of the peppers.

So I did a little digging into the plant leaves and found that some are growing downward and on another plant upward. So at least I think I have two different varieties. I need to look into the third a little more.

S

My three plants are doing really well. I spaced them out some more using one space from the other side of the Farm (with the removal of a plant from there). They have more air circulation and room to grow now.

I swear since the last pictures these had a growth spurt, that or I never realized the lights needed to be raised. They are all full of buds. I need to get in there and check more to see if there are peppers on any yet. I did go in and remove some more large leaves as it is very dense. While I know you can plant three pepper plants I think if I select plants that are taller then 20" I will only plant two. Just for the air flow itself. I will get some pictures later in the day.

S
Shawn

Tons of buds and flowers about to open on all. Fed Mooch this morning

20 ml of nutes added. I did not add mooch yet as I need to more the herbs somewhere.

Shawn, since I use RO water I add CaliMagic to all of my gardens at the 5ml per gallon recommended rate at initial filling and about 1/3 that rate for replacement water. My herbs and greens seem to love it. I doubt that your herbs would mind being lightly Mooched (it is the same as CaliMagic isn’t it).

S
Sher

I have discovered that Cal-Mag prevents tipburn in lettuce, too That was a huge problem for my Kratky lettuce before I started using it. I also add a small amount to herbs. It seems to make them stronger and healthier.

PlantingPlanted three pods with two Petite Colour Blend seeds each.

S By Shawn

Today I am planting a new pepper project that will hopefully result in a variety of colors and shapes. This will be a mystery as to what colors, shapes and sizes I will get. I just hope they are all different. Machine: Farm 24XLVendor: Park SeedName: Petite Colour Blend Hybrid Pepper SeedsSeeds: 2 per pod Pods: 3 pods planted, will thin to one each when ready Sponge: ParkNutes: None to start Petite Colour Blend Hybrid Pepper Seeds A Rainbow of Mini Bells! This exclusive blend brings you mini bell peppers in all the bright, hard-to-find colors and forms. Perfect for snacking, appetizers, garnishes, and stuffing. The more plants you grow, the wider the variety of looks in this gourmet blend. So cute! So colorful ! And I imagine so crispy and juicy as well!

S
Shawn

I see life in all three. Now I just watch that they germinate and go above the label. After that I have to hope I get three different varieties.

S
Shawn

Two of the three are above the label. One of the pods has two seedlings with one of them having the casing attached. I put a few drops of water on it. The third has not come out of the pod yet.

S
Shawn

All three pods are now up above the label!

S
Sher

Yay! Now the fun part begins!

S
Shawn

I added just 10ml of nutes to the bowl. Pepper leaves are looking a tad yellow. I probably should add the entire amount but was unsure. If that does not help I will add some more.
