These Just Sweets are giving us so many yummy peppers. Waiting for another batch to turn.

I have a severe case of pepper envy!

S
Shawn

You will be growing peppers soon enough

S
Shawn

I pulled the last 17 ripe peppers from the plant and ended it. The leaves were starting to wilt and the roots dark and yucky. It had a great run and would grow again

S
Sher

Glad they turned out to be such a satisfying project!

U

success! Now are you going to replace with another pepper project?

S
Shawn

Yes. The one machine is dedicated to peppers. I a, going to try a jalapeno again since the last one never produced any. I do not know what other pepper plant I will do yet. But I have a little time since my tomato is in this machine. As soon as the sweet heats redden I will end that one also and start all new projects in the two machines.

The Tangerine Dreams are a beautiful Deep Orange. Mark's Assessment of them are: minimal seeds, nice flesh thickness and has a nice little kick to them. These would be great for salads or pickling.
Conversation
S
Shawn

I ended just the Tangerine Dreams. While Mark really liked them, the ones that are orange are all on the smaller side. There are a few large ones but most are small. I rather use the real estate for something else. The Just Sweets are staying as I really like them. I MIGHT put my one tomato plant in here, still deciding. More if and when something happens.

J
Jay

I was just reminiscing about last summer's Tangerine Dreams... I grew them in a stock tank with basil and tomatoes. They were tasty and prolific outside. I saved cuttings (but I didn't reliably label them) and I have them rooting in my Harvest (with 3 other pepper cuttings). They didn't root in coco coir in my greenhouse in 2 months, but they didn't die. They have new growth but no visible roots. The plan is to move them to soil when they root then into the garden (February 15th is my 8 week seed start date!!!)Outside they were 18-24 inches high and about 18" around. I have 2 gallon bags of washed and seeded peppers from this plant in my freezer.

I took pictures and as soon as my phone charges I will get them uploaded. The Tangerine Dreams are starting to change colors and I hope to taste them soon. The Just Sweets are so good I will be growing these again.

S
Shawn

I just snipped off two of the Tangerine Dreams so I can get a taste review from Mark. I tasted one and for anyone wanting to grow these they have a small kick of heat to them. More then I expected. Review to follow.

A green pepper from one of the plants (do not know which one) fell off and Mark tried it. He said while a little grassy it is still good. SO looking forward to these sweet peppers. I need to get a picture.

S

Thanks mike Yes it is cheddachasa . This is the Elite.

C
cheddachasa

Nice!

S
Shawn

I really like the deck. There is no thin gap around the rim for the water to seep up and get calcium. Also the pump is better protected from roots. Not that roots can not or will not get in but there is a better barrier. I did figure out how to get the pump out of its casing and that is easy. I need to figure out how to take the deck apart but hopefully I will not have to. The wifi was really easy to set up (not that I use it). Also the trellis system is so sturdy now.

C

I have a Harvest with WiFi. I only use the app to reset the clock after a power outage.

I know I've grown both of these. I'm pretty sure they were both about 18" in height. You should be starting the Mooch about now. Those plants have sturdy bases so they may start growing pretty quickly.

S
Shawn

Yes, I plan on adding Mooch this week. And them being smaller I do not know if I need to top. But if I do I dont know where on these.

M
mike

Unless they start shooting towards the lights after you add the Mooch, I wouldn't bother. These plants look like they will be 12" to 16" in height, as things are now.

S
Shawn

Thank you so much mike!

Update #6

mike , I have another question for you .. Both plants have buds, should I cut those off? Here are the shots: Thanks in advance for you assistance!
Conversation
M
mike

That's awfully young for buds. Yes, I'd remove the buds for at least another two weeks to keep the energy of the plant keep going into building stronger branches.

S
Shawn

Thank you Mike. I also thought it was early but hey what do I know LOL. I cut them off and will trim any others out for the next 2 weeks. Thanks again!

I'd wait at least 10 more days. They are still pretty short. If I remember correctly, both are fairly bushy. I don't think you'll need to.

Update #1

S By Shawn

I am getting ready to plant more Peppers. Both "Orange" in color. Burpee Tangerine DreamThe look is hot but the flavor is not! Yes, it's a gorgeous little bush studded all over with shiny red-orange rockets-too pretty to hide away among rows of vegetables. But it's very tasty too, with a hint of heat. The 3" fruit are sweet and delicious, either pickled or on salad platters. Height 18". Parks Just Sweet So sweet it's practically candy! A delicious super sweet pepper that has the best flavor when it turns from green to orange. This pepper has a crisp bite with a beautiful color and great texture. Great for salads, stuffed pepper bites, or any snack sized recipe! Machine: Bounty Vendor: Burpee and Park Sponge: Park Nutes: AG Nutes with Mooch to follow
