What you can learnA clear germination-and-transplant diary showing improved results from personal seed, early feeding, algae treatment, and timely removal from a small Sprout.

Actions:1 Planting1 Nutrients1 Transplant
Useful practices
  • using personal seed in Grow Anything pods
  • adding a measured nutrient dose
  • treating algae with hydrogen peroxide
  • transplanting vigorous seedlings before they outgrow a Sprout
Problems encountered
  • previous pre-seeded lemon-balm pods had failed
  • nutrient residue accumulated on the deck
  • algae developed in the reservoir
  • plants quickly needed more space

Update #3

M By maskedsonnet

Got quite a bit bigger while I was away!! Going to give them another week or so in there while I decide what I really want to do with these plants - I'm not sure yet if they'll join the ones in the ground come spring or if I'll keep them indoors in pots. But soon they'll need to be transplanted! Have some brown crud to clean off the deck this afternoon too.

Add a squirt of hydrogen peroxide in there to clean up the algae and they'll grow even faster

That brown I believe is from nutes.

lol I was so busy frowning at the nutrient build-up I didn't even notice the algae getting busy in the water!! Added a squirt of peroxide to it

Update #1

PlantingStarted lemon balm from personal seed in all three Sprout positions about two weeks earlier.

M By maskedsonnet

Planted lemon balm in my sprout about two weeks ago, and have plants peeking out of all three! This is the first time I've gotten lemon balm to germinate, the pre-seeded pods from AG never worked for me. I used my own seeds in the grow anything pods, worked out muuuch better!
