Update #18

Well I am thrilled to report I have a few Easter Eggs. Although still white. Can you spot two? Following is a closeup.

There they are! Well guarded too!

Shawn

I have many eggs and I thin one is starting to change colors. Tomorrow when I feed I will get a better look and some pictures. While the eggs are healthy, some of the leaves are yellowing.

S
Shawn

I terminated this garden as I was not able to care for it like I had wanted. Next year I will start these in late November or early December.

I like the egg, BUT the thorn looked vicious!!!

S
Shawn

They were! I had so many pricks and scratches.

Update #17

Actions taken

PruningRemoved most of the dead blooms from the deck and plants.

S By Shawn

As expected the one egg I did see dried up. However as you can see there are a ton of blooms as well as a ton of dead ones on the deck. I did remove most but could not stand longer to clean the rest or the deck. Left Side, Right Side and both

Update #16

S By Shawn

I must get in that room today to check on this plant. Nothing has been hand pollinated. While I know there are blooms on it I have no idea what the state of the eggs are if any. I do know the only one I saw prior to my surgery was no longer there I it is ok.

I don’t know why it has taken me all this time to realize that this is an eggplant plant, lol. For some cooky reason I thought it was supposed to be some unique strange flower...

The bid should be opening soon. It is much more purple then the picture shows. Then after that you will see all the thorns on the buds. This plant will protect itself at all costs

Looking very nice! These ones remind me of a small variety I used to grow in my outdoor garden a few years ago, called "Fairytale Eggplant".

I remember someone, I do not know in this forum or the one before I started this one (which took over for the old one) grew these

Update #8

S By Shawn

My plant is trying to harm me LOL... Today I went to turn them both and I was getting pricked by thorns left and right. They are on the leaves and stems Tomorrow I also need to remove another two HUGE leaves. These are both around 7" x 5" leaves WITH multiple thorns. I wonder if I will get more thorns if I remove them but for my safety those leaves have to go.

Update #7

I am pleased with the way these are growing. I can see a difference since removing large leaves. Of course there are more large leaves. What I found that did not see last time is the large leaves get thorns (see second picture). They are pointy but now that bad yet at least.

I wrote the vendor to make sure I did not have to prune these plants. I also sent a picture. They told me to trim the largest leaves out to give the plant some energy to grow. SO that is what I did. Pictures to follow.
