Nano Geranium Mix Flowered before Low-Water Decline
Grow log by Shawn · Original thread
What you can learnA complete ornamental cycle from backup germination through multi-colour bloom and a clearly documented environmental failure at the end.
Useful practices
- planting backup pods after poor germination
- tracking bud colour
- placing a successful flower display in a visible workspace
- restarting after an environmental decline
Problems encountered
- two original pods failed to germinate
- low reservoir water
- light blocked during a guest stay
- sparse dying foliage
*The days were calculated automatically and approximately.
I bet they brighten your grey November days!
They are. I will be putting these out on my desk so I can see them all the time. We are rearranging some things in the house and I am getting my desk area back. So now one desk (l shape) will have my laptop and the other will be for doing bills and stuff. This is where I will pu the Harvest also.
My mom is staying in the room with the Nanos so I have not been able to check on them. She is leaving today so I will be able to see how they are doing and if they need water. Sheesh, I miss my nanos. I hope she did not pluck at them LOL
I am going to have to terminate this project I think and star fresh. The water was low. My mom had it all closed up so the light would not bother her (although it was off when she went to bed ) and all the leaves are sparse and dying. I don't know how to save it.So Monday or Tuesday I will end it and start fresh. Tomorrow I will be busy so I dont think I will have time,I am mad I was loving the looks and colors.
So sad to have to chuck pretty projects. BUT,,,it is better that they are flowers rather than peppers that were going for months, right?! That would be heartbreaking.Sorry about your pretty NanoProject
This project has been terminated sadly. On a better note, I will be cleaning the machine and will start fresh in the coming days for Nano Re-do.
That’s too bad. But, you will soon be excited with your new baby garden.
Update #10
Both cute and pretty!!
Excellent eye candy! So very pretty,Shawn!
Thank you. We are enjoying them.
Update #9
scaarlet and red are so difficult to distinguish, but rest assured it will be one of those vibrant 'popping' 2 colors!
Woo hoo your first flowers! And already 3 colors! Very nice. Btw I agree with Corinne, it looks either scarlet or red. Probably red. So hard to tell.
I need to take pictures but the flower on the left appears to be Appleblossom and not white. I will get a pic posted tomorrow.
Update #8
I knew you wouldn;t be disappointed! The best eye candy is yet to come! Love the color !
The open one appears to be a Salmon color. The bud at this point looks like it will be either Deep Rose or Pink. Hard to tell until it blooms.
Update #7
Ooooo's and Ahhh's,Shawn! Ooo's and Ahhh's !

They are Blooming. I am so excited. My phone is charging now. When I get back from my doctors appointments I will post some pictures.

YES! They are coming right along!
I am excited
Update #4
they are really growing now, but I would really love to know why they yellow up before greening up. Never saw that in geraniums before.
I have no clue. I did not do anything out of the ordinary.
Is the yellow fully gone now from the leaves?
Yes Mary, thankfully it is. I need to take pictures.
Glad to hear it!
Update #3
Looks like it is recovering and the leaves are greening up and showing that ring!!
Update #2
Strange indeed.
I wonder if the rest will be ok like Mike's Pepper leaves were.
what if you just start 2 more pods just for security?
I think I will do that this morning, thanks for the
I never got to plant two new pods. However the ones I have are growing. I will take pictures as soon as they get a little larger.
