Grow log by Shawn · Original thread

Useful practices
- cleaning the deck after algae appeared
- rearranging plants by height and spacing needs
- supplementing flowering plants with Bloom powder
- deadheading spent flowers
- ending the garden after bloom production declined
Problems encountered
- slow vegetative growth
- initial uncertainty about leaf texture
- green algae above and below the deck
- flowers needing more spacing
*The days were calculated automatically and approximately.
They are so beautiful, Shawn. I bought some New Day seeds based on your photos. That will be one of my first post-bug projects.
I will plant these again and hope I get different and more colors.
just like the ad!
There are more buds low in the greenery, not many but still there. I am waiting another week and if they do not bloom or more buds form I am going to end this and then I will start fresh. I am debating on replanting this one or starting a new one. I also have to see what other flowers I have in my stash.
This one is coming to an end today. However I will be starting new flowers.... I just need to figure out what. I will make a new post here in my Garden so everyone can help me decide what to grow next....
Your gazanias were a joy to watch. Now, time to move on.

Do they close up at sundown? They are so colorful!
Yes they close up every night. They are actually all closing up now and will be totally closed in about two hours.
I ordered my seeds. Now I will wait for Harvest room. Maybe my beets will fail!
Don't say that... you know you want them to thrive.
Yes I do. I am just so impatient!
I added water, fed and also gave a pinch of Bloom powder
Update #14
I see a mauve at the bottom right and a light yellow, and a striped orange at the top right. That photo is so perfect, it looks like an advertisement!
Looks are deceiving as the undersides are different colors. However I hope it is a different shade like purple. I am going to get more seeds and plant some in pots for my deck. I would also plant these in my Bounty for my family room. I am glad @cornne showed hers and pointed me in the right direction.
I am chomping at the bit to plant gazanias now. As soon as my other tomatoes start ripening, I can use the heirloom tomato Harvest to grow mine in.
Update #13
Beautiful!
Wow those are stunning!
WOW!!! Gorgeous!!!
So beautiful and cheery!
Thanks everyone. I am really enjoying watching what will bloom next.
Update #12
Gorgeous! That will be one of my future projects!
Update #11
It looks soft and feminine and bold and sunny at the same time. Very pretty!
Update #10
A ray of sunshine! I love yellow flowers
So do I! You can't look at them without smiling.
I just looked and she closed up for the night already. The light is still on so I guess she was tired LOL
Looking good!

Update #6
I have not grown gazanias so I don't know if the leaves are normal or not. They are really growing, though. Sweet Piper. I hope she feels better soon.
Your leaves look perfect! Gazanias have both smooth and bumpy leaves.
Whew... Thank goodness. Thank you
Update #5
they are growing, but the color seems off. I will be planting some of thee tomorrow and I will watch to see if mine have the same coloring.
Ok thank you. I may start more seeds in a different Harvest to see what happens. I will place that machine in my spare room for now and keep or move according to how they grow. I will do this tomorrow at some point.

Update #3
I am not liking the way the leaves are looking. They are starting to look like my Dots project did. I will give it a couple more days. If they do not improve. I will end this, give this unit a double cleaning and retry. Or better yet I will use one of my other Harvests. Maybe the 360. I will report back.
Did you feed 'em yet? Maybe they are hungry! I add nutes as soon as I see green.
Update #2
That was fast!
I know, it was. I am really excited about these. While I have had nice flowers before, I am looking forward to these. I am sad my Holiday flowers never made it, maybe seeds were old. But these are pretty and will bring some life to otherwise dreary winter days we may have.
Looking like lil' troopers! Fast germination.
Very fast germination! Christmas will be over before those bloom, so other bright colors will be so welcome!
Update #1
Fingers crossed for a full mix of colors!
Love that white with purple stripes! Looks like a super pretty mix, hope you gets lots of color!
I never got to plant these. I have had a bad few days here but will be planting these in the morning (as long as things stay quiet).
I hope things get better for you soon, Shawn. You don't have a deadline to get them planted. And they will be just as gorgeous whenever you get them started! (I tell myself that a lot!)
Just planted
YAY!!!!!!
