Sometimes tough love is the best way to go.I had some ugly gardens that I just terminated over the weekend as I don't want my Thanksgiving visitors to see them. And now I'll have some cute babies to show, instead.
I don't disagree but it's still really weird to me. If that's the case that plant has to be pretty sensitive to overfeeding. Someday I will find out!
Yes, it will be a future project. But I am sure you may have others you want to still try. Always fun trying new things whether they work out or not. The fun is trying and if you have results it makes it better.
I tried planting two of a species called "Better Bush" toms in an Ultra. Kind of a mistake, because one of those plants would have filled the Ultra on its own.Planted easily, grew easily, but only produced two (full sized) tomatoes per plant before my neglect caused their early demise. Very tasty, but in the end, I would have been better off using a Farm Plus (at least) in a more accessible area so I could do a better job of pruning.
Hmm, that one tomato is an oddity. But the other looks great.
Extremely interesting disparity. I agree it would be useful to try the Extreme Bush in its own garden with different nutes. Who knows what you could find.
I dunno, nick...I don;t own a Farm, BUT 16ml seems a very high a dose for such young plants. I wouldn;t be surprised if you saw more leaf curl and signs of mottling down the road. JMO...but, as I said...i don;t own a Farm.
16ml is what AG specifies for Farm models on 1st and second feeding. Keep in mind that’s 16ml for two gallons of water. TDS measures between 550 and 625ppm with that dose.
yeh. I realize that, and I suppose not owning a Farm I should just stick to suggestions for what I own. But I have burned or weakened a few projects just with the suggested amount over the years and tend to warn others when I see them having trouble. Sorry about that, nick.
@cornne , i also thought about that. I know with lettuce and some herbs the AT amounts are too strong .
For lettuces I’m just feeding 10-12ml every feeding. So, 5-6ml per gallon. They seem to do just fine with that. I could probably even cut it back more but since they’ve all looked so good I probably won’t mess with it. I do appreciate the advice. You all have experience I don’t. I was just assuming following the AG recommendations with their nutes was probably pretty safe. I’ll keep an eye on the toms and see how they respond this week.
I am eyeballing that Extreme Bush. I so hope this works! I would love to start this indoors for the Spring garden.

Out of an abundance of caution I just did another R&R and switched to AG nutes for this one. I also an an extra gallon of water through the tank in between the rinse and the refill to try to flush it out as much as possible.I’m not confident I’m using the GH nutes correctly so We’ll see if this corrects the curl. Fed with 16ml of AG nutes during the R&R.
Neither of these plants looked good this morning so I terminated both. I think they were suffering from the same overfeeding problem as my other plants. I’ll be restarting these with AG nutes today.
Just out out of curiosity were you able to test the ppm before tossing the water?
I wasn't on these but only because I had already done an R&R and switched to AG nutes in an attempt to save them. It was too late though.
Bummer. Especially after all the excitement and buildup of getting your new units and setting them all up. Well, onward. The future is bright!
Restarted this unit with one Extreme Bush pod and one Golden Harvest pod.The experiment continues!

R&R this morning. Second feeding was 1:2:2:1 ratio of Mooch/GH Micro/GH Grow/GH Bloom.
Fingers crossed you get quick germination in the other pod.
