Jewel Box Crested Celosia Outgrew the Harvest without Blooming
Grow log by Sher · Original thread
What you can learnA clear cultivar-selection failure showing how inaccurate height expectations can make an otherwise healthy plant unsuitable for a compact garden.
Useful practices
- removing pod covers after emergence
- checking leaves for possible damage
- cutting back oversized plants
- terminating a cultivar unsuitable for the machine
Problems encountered
- plants exceeded advertised height
- leaves crisping near the light
- drooping smaller plants
- no flowers

Damn shame but live and learn. I know for me I have had many projects that were ended due to incorrect sizing, Also growing in an AG they can sometimes (so I hear) grow differently then spec'd out. Gives us more projects to try
Update #5
Fyi holes can happen from fingernails scissors and just moving leaves. I have some my fair share of all
Update #4
I think you caught its good side
Update #3
They look alive and like they are on stage.
I bet these are the kind you could actually sit to watch them grow & notice the difference! Well, if you're living on Hawaii time, with nothing else to do!
Update #2
Actions taken
Woo hoo! Good job!
You can see some coloring in the stems.
I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it!
