Have you received your replacement seeds for the Black Pansies from Baker Creek (Rare Seeds) yet?I ordered several packets of seeds from them, and also bought their WHOLE SEED CATALOG. The catalog includes most of the seeds they offer, along with extra photos and articles about their heirloom varieties. Lots of eye candy for gardeners! Thanks for letting me know about this seed source.Personally, I'm a big fan of heirloom seeds, because the fruit usually has more flavor than modern fruit that has been developed to ship well. No Red Delicious apples or pale-skinned tomatoes ever make it into my grocery cart!
I did get my replacement seeds! They actually shipped them really fast, I had them less than a week after telling them about the problem
What a marvelous "black" pansy! I love the white petunias--are there white pansies in the photo? If the petunias were supposed to have purple centers, you were probably sent the wrong seeds. I'd complain to the seller, I think. At least I would if I had the time.
Lol those are petunias?! I was sent the wrong seeds for sure, I'm so bad at identifying flowers that didn't even click!! It's supposed to be these!!!

I sent them a message with a photo attached, I’m hoping they get back to me through email! If not I’ll call them when I’m back on day shift probably, their customer support only works 8-4cst weekdays.

What? You can't tell a petunia from a pansy? That's hilarious! You are such a wonderful gardener, too. The purple-centered pansies are gorgeous, so I hope they send you a replacement packet. Seed companies do seem to get their seeds mixed up from time to time. We ran into this when the Farmer's Market stand that supplied husband's Green Zebra tomatoes didn't have any for a whole season because Burpee sent seed for Red Zebras instead. The grower was rather angry, and switched seed suppliers.
Oof, that would be upsetting, if it was affecting their sales!! Honestly the only suspicions I had about my flowers were "those are weirdly big" and "those are the wrong color". I love flowers, but I never learned much about them. I'm more likely to do intensive research on things I plan to put in my mouth or put out where the dogs might put them in their mouths, and flowers never really land in those categories for me (even knowing some of them are edible!) In spite of this, I don't hold it against Baker's Creek. I might get annoyed if they don't get back to me, but I'm not there yet. They sell LOTS of seeds, understandable to get them mixed up every once and a while. I'm planning on buying more flower seeds from them soon for a "goth garden" on my front porch!! They have lots of neat "black" and lighter purple flower options, plus some really stunning shades of red

The inside's a very tasty-looking red though! I'd be curious to see what color a sauce made out of those would turn out.
Husband was interested, so I may order some Black Beauty seeds. It's supposed to be a delicious tomato.
I hope they're as tasty as they look!!! Baker's Creek got back to me this morning. This is what they said: Hello, thanks for reaching out. I'm not sure what the white flowers are but they do look like Petunias. We do apologize for the problem, and would be happy to send fresh replacements or else issue you a store credit or a refund, per warranty. Just let me know what would work best for you and I'll arrange it. So I've requested a replacement!! They actually got back to me a lot faster than I thought they would, which was nice. I look forward to getting and growing the right flowers soon!
