Dragonfly and Sweet Sunrise Peppers with KoolBloom Stress
Grow log by Shawn · Original thread
What you can learnA useful pepper diary showing fruit development, supplement sensitivity, emergency reservoir replacement, recovery cycles, and flavour changes with ripeness.
Useful practices
- thinning to one pepper per pod
- using rinse-and-refill after suspected nutrient stress
- waiting for purple peppers to ripen red before judging flavour
Problems encountered
- recurrent wilting after KoolBloom
- temporary recovery after reservoir change
- plant decline during fruit colour change
*The days were calculated automatically and approximately.
It always blows me away, to see large or extra large peppers in an Aerogarden! I never believed it until one of my AG sweet bell pepper pods produced a wildly successful plant.
gave nutes and mooch although a week late
Terminated these today. They are all changing colors however plants starting to wilt. Time to start anew
That's too bad. Great looking peppers.
Mark said the purple ones (back left) were horrible when purple but when red were delicious. The front ones that turned yellow were really good as well however had a lot of seeds. Both were Sweet.
I've never tasted a pepper that starts purple and changes to red when ripe that tasted good in the purple, unripe, stage.
They said you can eat when purple but they were horrible tasting. I almost pulled the plant but decided to try when red. It was worth the wait.
I'm thinking of the Purple Jalapeno and the Loco Hybrid peppers I've grown. I thought both were nasty in the purple stage.I mixed the Loco Peppers with ghost peppers to make a seriously hot sauces. I made that with peaches. It still had near Habanero heat. That was really good sauce.

Those are great!
Gorgeous purple peppers, Shawn! Great photo, too!

Good luck Shawn. I haven't had much luck lately either. I'm starting to wonder if there is an age limit on the KoolBloom. I've been seeing a lot of solids floating in my bottle.
I did the R&R and did not add anything (nutes, mooch etc) and they seem to be recovering. Thank goodness. I wonder as well with the viability is. I think I will write to them and get an answer for us.
Ugh, on a downward spiral again
These peppers are messing with me bog time. I looked today and they are coming back again. Still not 100% but better.
plants can be a finicky thing, i've had plants that looked like they were done for and have bounced back in a couple of hours (they can be real troopers!) glad to hear they are bouncing back though!
Plants don't seem to need Koolbloom when they already have lots of buds and flowers, unless they are dropping the fruit. Mine are conditioned to receiving Koolbloom, since I start small amounts at 6 or 8 weeks.
