Do you use them right away or dehydrate for later? You get a lot!

A little of both!! I like to make tea with the fresh leaves, but the dried is almost as good and lasts a lot longer!! I need to plant more lemon balm at some point soon, I ended this garden quite a while back because I was overflowing with the dried leaves. But I'm starting to run out!

It's a member of the mint family, so it can be a little unruly. I've always been a fan of unruly edibles, because they push out undesirables in my lawn, but not everyone feels the same lol. It can be a bit of a nuisance in a hydroponic system if you don't take scissors to it pretty aggressively!

PruningTrimmed the overgrown lemon balm as aggressively as an outdoor mint-family plant.
I trimmed these the way I would have an outdoor plant that had gotten away from me, and they have responded well to that treatment!! I think anything in the mint family honestly thrives on a little abuse.

After reading about your lemon balm, lynnee, I bought some seeds. But I don't have a big enough machine available. I am thinking of starting some in coco coir and see what happens. I love herbal teas and it would be nice to grow some of my own.

It does go wild just like mint, I trim these every week and use the trimmings for tea or infused water throughout the week. But it is fun to watch it grow!

I made a big batch of infused water with it yesterday, it's so nice to have it thriving for me

What did it taste like? Just lemon or lemon with a hint of something else? I never had it so I am asking.

It tastes like lemons, but without the sourness of lemons. Sort of like lemon grass. Some people say there’s also a hint of mint (which would make sense, being part of the mint family), but I can’t actually taste that. And it has a really nice lemony smell too!

I will have to try it. I love lemon water and if I use some of this with lemons it should taste good.
